  • bravo. i put disqus on my personal blog. am looking forward to importing existing WP comments into the system, tweaking the layout then extending to more popular blogs i help run.

    the email feature enough is worth it. i'm much more engaged with my community now
  • Agree, local comment hosting is vital - both for SEO and for reliability reasons. You DON'T want to suddenly find yourself with all your comments lost!! Good comments are half the value of a good blog!

  • While I just started using disqus, I agree with Skype Helper's point about having comments housed locally as well. While the disqus commenting system is nice, I also prefer having local comments housed under my own WP install.
  • I should note that the current versions of the Wordpress Disqus plugin syncs
    your comments between Disqus and Wordpress. You get the best of both
    worlds!
  • The only issue is you don't 'own' your comments...what happens if disqus loses your data?
  • With the current versions of the plugin it won't matter and you do own your
    comments, with the comments sync'd you have all the comments locally so if
    Disqus loses your data, then it will just resync from your blog.
  • I didn't know they had this feature already. Is this new? One of the reasons I've held off switching to disqus was due to the "ownership" of the comments. If so, I think I'll have to start integrating my blog with disqus...
