KillerStartups Killed?

Started by KnightKnetwork · 10 months ago

One way that a new blogger can get story ideas and make a name for themselves is to report on new and interesting startups, the problem has been how do you find out about a startup early enough to get the scoop? The main service that I was aware of was KillerStartups.com, they saw [...] ... Continue reading »

  • I agree with wotlk about KillerStartups being a waste of time these days, it's nothing but spam
  • Interesting. Maybe you missed this one http://www.quantcast.com/profile/traffic-compar...
    Both are directly measured. Regards,
  • I did miss that, I'm not familiar with Quantcast but it appears that it may
be the most accurate since all the listed items are directly measured. I
hope you'll pardon my incomplete research and I'll adjust the story after I
dig a little deeper into what all those graphs claim they are showing.
Congratualtions on pulling out of that slump!
  • Thanks! I just brought that up because we're both directly measured, so no
guessing here. Also, if we could get an everyday home page mention in
    Techcrunch surely would help ;)
On the other hand David, thanks to your post about KillerStartups I got to
    discover your interesting blog.
  • Interesting research you have provided here David. The only thing I wanted to add is that I always felt that KillerStarups was more of a blog about startps while the others are better used as rather comprehensive directories. So this may partly explain why KS seems to be on decline, I believe.
  • Yeah, I have described KS as a type of blog when I wrote an article about in in a magazin some years ago. I like the way it was, more "personal" than the other startup websites...
  • You should check their status in compete.com too.

    http://siteanalytics.compete.com/killerstartups...

The situation is quite sad, and I am sad too, since we got profiled at killerstartups and at the very beginning got some nice traffic and buzz from them.

But tradevibes is picking up, and since they now have a deal with ReadWriteWeb the competition might be interesting. Maybe Zemanta should include the ability to choose your favorite provider of specific links. But CB definitely nailed it with the API...

    Andraz Tori, Zemanta
  • well today killerstartups view my startup bloggersmosaic.com , and am wating to see the traffic they will bring
  • Well, good luck to you Amous. I hope you read my followup to this. I've
followed up on the numbers as well and Killerstartups continues to look
    good!
  • KillerStartups isn't the same as it was before. It's just a site people use to spam their new crappy startups now. You will hardly ever find anything quality - it'll most likely be buried somewhere within all the crappy sites that are submitted daily..
  • I didn't know that startups created such an eco-system around them - reviews, commentaries, people investing their time to provide content about what a business might do. let's get to Economics 2.0 - make company registration free or only a couple of cents, the only IP being its name, then spawn them by the billions and ask for representation in the Senate. you can have a whole "tribe" of start-ups with 0 value individually but worth a lot when put together. And you can write about it.. <grin>
  • It sucks that KillerStartups went the way they did. They're no longer a KillerStartup themselves
  • KillerStartups is a big waste of time
